Nanok is an AMAB dragon anthro by default, but is talented in transformation magic to the point that they might just forget if beans on the hand are normal or not.

Comes in pretty much all shapes in sizes. Can present masc or fem or just vibing.

Original base reference View from the observitory

Nanok in his original/prime version comes from a secret base on Mercury. This base consists of a bunch of climat controlled domes with all kinds of different Anthro species.

Nanok is himself an amalgamation of different species, Snake, furred dragon, Wyvern and Kitune. Him transforming puts significant stress on his body. The base has medical facilities to minimize the side-effects of that stress, which replace at least parts of his sleep schedule.

The base is made up of multiple interconnected domes that are mostly burried in the planets surface to protect them from the Sun. Each dome is modelled after a different biome.

The connecting tunnels, support levels and central tower are equipped with airlocks in case of a hull breach. Light is provided by a set of adjustable filters and mirrors extending from the top of the dome. A control center and observitory is situated over the mirror assembly.

Base layout

Due to the intense heat, the climate control of the base is handled by large heat exchanger towers. Electricity is generated in large scale solar farms away from the Base.

The base relies on imports for medication, electronics and spezialized air filters. The dependens on these goods as well as the externalisiation of the power generation and heat regulation is by design.

The base was build an unknown amount of time ago and the legality of the planned experiments was not yet determined. All systems are designed to be remote controllable and dependent on central support.

This reason is basically null and void at this point. The facility is old and the systems sustaining it are basically tradition at this point. The structure is showing signs of age with rust spots and a few hasty patches here and there, but the even the habitat domes are build like bomb shelter and the bunkers would probably survive being dropped from orbit.

Nanok in this version is the most fleshed out in his story, but is not entierly useful as a character, being basically stranded on a sun fried planet most of his life. There is a short story (FA) from a while back. The english is even worse than the rest of this page, I wrote it a while ago and english is my second langauge.

Multiverses and professions

Nanoks profession in the prime universe is electrical engineer. He still has magic in that universe, but the structures within the domes don't give as much incentive to make any magic products a full time job. Generally, due to the facility being designed to be dependent on external help, most jobs are more of extendend hobbies and services to society than required to make a living.

A copy of Nanok may exist, but does not have to exist, in any world or dimension. These Versions may be subtly different, depending on the rules of the world they spawn in. A world with no magic will have a Nanok with a specielized gas storage organ to fuel his flame weapon, for example. This doesn't mean he or his memories can travel between those worlds, each exists independent of each other.

In worlds with magic in most forms, Nanok will have a small Alchemy and Magic corner store. He will have all kinds of potions ready, hanging from the ceiling and shelves, castable scrolls in wine racks and all kinds of weak magic items all over the store. All of the items just out in the store are weak or harmless. Items or spells he deams dangerous or easily exploitable are made to order, he doesn't trust himself to catch people pocketing something they shouldn't have, so he doesn't store them. Most of the potions are some kind of transformation, it is just what Nanoks's good at, but any Magic can potentially be captured in a bottle. That doesn't mean all potions should be consumed, a litteral lighning in a bottle is better used outside of the body of most creatues.

Another magic item Nanok will consistently produce are casting candles. They maintain a spell over time from the flame and wax. This allows a spell to be started and stopped at will. The energy required is invested when making the candles and can be stored near indefinetly. The most common spell Nanok will cast into a candle is a body double.

These body doubles can be none descript, like a golem of any kind, or a copy of a person. To copy the appearance of a person, they need to gave something like hair during the making of the candle. When working on big projects, Nanok uses a few of those Doubles of either himself or a form of Kobold. The doubles can be designed with a set of skills or knowledge and have a short term memory for what you ask of them, but generally don't persist. It is possible to keep extending the life of a body double by using the remaining candle whe namkng a new one, similar like making a copy of an organic person. A body double can be self aware, but they aren't by default.

Nanok vs Noka

Noka is a fem coded name for Nanok, or his sister.

Which one depends on the world in question. Noka doesn't exist in the prime universe, but has a good chance to exist in other universes. She is generally more outgoing than her brother. They generally get along but will not get in each others business.

Wings

Wings are optinal and consist of 3 fingers in the wing and 1 finger and thumb as a functional hand. Should the situation require it, the wings can be hidden.

The membrain is a lighter gray , the lower edge is red and can be slightly transparent.

The scales on the arm are the same grey as the rest of the scales.

The wing colours in the Quad ref are and . The exact colours are not important. The red / should match the fin membrane. The red scales can share a base colour, but don't have to.

Wing Cutouts

When the wings are hidden, the area where they should connect can have a different texture. The wings are hidden with magic portals that lead to a wodden plage at home.

The wings could be removed by transformation magic, but because Nanok prefers to keep the wings whenever possible, it is still loosing limbs after all.

The texture of the portals is perfectly flat in colour , ignoring direct lighting as if averaging all light over the area.

Tail

dark grey scales on the top and purple fur on the bottom. The tail is up to 2m long. The fur covers roughly the lower third and can extend past the tip.

Fur colour doesn't need to be exact. The Quad Ref uses #8134c5 for fur and #5e5f73 for scales.

Optional Tail opening:

If desired the tail tip can open into 3 or more sections with optinal tendrils. The inner walls share a colour pallet with the maw. or from the quad Ref.

Beans

Beans are optional and use the fur or purplish flesh colour. FurAffinity: amiel

The colours don't need to be exact, the Quad uses for fur and for flesh colours. Adjust as you see fit.

Eyes

Eyes, they are green . They are green because it is the primary colour that isn't present in the rest of the design.

The Quad Ref uses .

Alternate colour schemes might include a gradient from yellow to green or similar.

All designs have slit or oval pupils.

The sclera is a typical off white, but can change to a void black or colour of choice when casting or sustaining magic.

The exact colour of the eyes is not important, as long as it can be described as "green", or includes some green.

Horn

The horn on the nose can be of different size, depending how treatening Nanok wants to look. It can become think like a knife or a round nub as required.

Frills or fins

4 articulated fingers connected by a membrane, like the wings. the top most "finger" can be aligned with the top of the skull and move to express feelings. The membrane is red grey #484653 fingers.

red for the membrane and gray #5e5f73 for scales are different in the Qaud Ref. The base colours don't need to be exact, but the case colour of the scales should be consisten thoughout and the base colour of the membrane should be consistent with the colour of the red wing membrane or spine if applicable.

Fur

Purple fur spans the front of the body. It is not fire prove, but is resistent doesn't sustain fires once it catches on fire.

Hands

3 or 4 finger with dark blue claws. May also be paws with beans.

Scales

Dark grey scales. Optional: refracted light is blue. This is because of microspopic structures on their surface.

Nanok has heat sensitive pit organs, similar to a Green tree Python (flickr.com).

This is optional to include, don't worry about it. I personally don't include it often, because it adds busyness in places where it might be odd.

Anthro ref references as the internal colour of the organ, taken from the internal colour pallet. Base colour doens't need to be exact, just in the ball park.

Eyebrows

staggered scales form the eyebrows . They might be a bit darker than the rest of the scales, but there is no set colour for them, adjust as you see fit.

Magic

Nanok works with a variety of magics, but is most in tune with transformation magic.

Most atuned element is Water 💧.

Transformation magic rules:

  • Complexity > Mass: Mass and energy can't exchanged proportinally. Instead the percieved Complexity of the change is the primary measure
  • Removing mass is always less than 100% efficent
  • You can not transform another person without their help
  • transforming someone else is always has extra losses
  • transformation magic needs energy to persist
  • transformation will only vanish when they do not align with ones magic self image.
  • removing something from someone else will never result in energy for the user, but will cost the inital energy cost regardless
  • Removing something vital is possible. The required function is woven into a magic fabric independent of reality. This magic fabric requires more energy to maintain.
  • All of the rules above can be bend with enough training. Exception: no transformation can be more than 100% efficent.

Magic Spellbook

Magic book of magics.

This spellbook is chaotic and ancient. It contains spells, incantations of any school of magic. Any one spell can be found with multiple different techniques as it's basis, costing the user different things in exchange for the same effect.

The Book writes itself, if someone with the knowledge and intend to write any information about manifesting any magic art on a blank page, the information braws ifself into the page as if written with the utmost care. The Problem is, that the pages of this book refuse to be ordered. Blank pages show up randomly when browsing the book and the book will eject bookmarks when left unattended. Sticky notes stay on pages they have been added to, but may fly out randomly when the book is handled rough.

It can be pushed together to pocket book size or extended to cover a map table as needed.

Maw

it's where the food goes. Inside of the mouth is or from the Anthro and Quad Ref respectively. Refer to the internals for more details.

Teeth

Mostly carnivore or omnivore theeth. The fangs fold back to the ceiling of the mouth when the jaw closes, or fold out involentarily when opening wide, like yawning.

The fangs can also inject venom when needed.

Tounge

Single tip tounge, may be stupid long. When Nanok elects to use the maximum tounge length, it's base is attached to the base of the tail, similar to a pangolin (nationalgeographic)

Organs and blood

When magic can't be used to generate the fire breath, the body has a hollow muscle organ that is nested in itself and compresses gasses filtered off of the gastric system. The core of this organ can stand under enourmus pressures, but because each layer is under less pressure than the other, the valves inside don't blow out. The only valve that has to withstand the full pressure is the one connecting to the mouth. Breathing fire is hard to stop once it started and might happpen involenterily when too much gass is stored up.

Tailbags

Due to the wings taking up most of the back, most things are carried with tail bags. The base of the tail is muscular enough to carry siginficant weight.

Design can vary depending on use case and preferences.

While not required, sometimes clothes are a nice touch.

Nose scales

red scales running on the muzzle. May be ommited in anthro form.

Spine spikes

This feature is only present in the Quadrupedal version.

Red membrane runs between blue #383c88 spikes along the spine through most of the tails length. The blue is shared with the horn and claws.

May inlcude a stamped hole to pass a collar through.

Collar hole

This feature is only present in the Quadrupedal version.

The membrane between the spikes can be a bit tight to squish it down with a collar, so this body mod is more comfortable.

Teeth (bat)

light blue

Wings (bat)

exteriour colour is a darker brown #352e24. The interiour colours are a bright red #8d1f1e with purple #6a3c9f stripes.

Skin (bat)

a light brown skin with patches of short fur of the same colour.

Hair (bat)

shoulder long red hair. Nanok likes to have a more feminine presentation in this form, even when gravity doesn't always cooperate in the hair department.

Eyebrows (bat)

Smaller reddish brown dots represent the eyebrows.

Eyes (bat)

Green eyes with slit pupils, similar to the dragon form

Fur (bat)

Purple fur collar. You can loose things in there.

Ears (bat)

Light purple ears. This colour also allpies to most of the inside of the body. One of the most important reasons for Nanok to having considered this for in the first place, are the big ears. Gentle ear scritches might just make them melt.
